Street & House Naming & Numbering
The District Council is responsible for the naming and numbering
of streets and properties. This includes all new developments and
the adding of a name to or the change of name of an existing
property.
If you are a developer you should write in at an early stage of
the development with proposals for any street names, which should
ideally have strong local connections, together with two copies of
the site plan (preferably no larger than A3). Please post to:
Project Officer, Address Management
Dover District Council
White Cliffs Business Park
Dover
Kent CT16 3PJ
E-mail: addressmanagement@dover.gov.uk
Once consultation has taken place and approval given, addresses
will be allocated and registered and written confirmation sent to
you.
In the case of an existing property, details of the proposed
change should be sent either in writing or by e-mail to the Project
Officer, Address Management. Once checks have been carried out to
ensure that the requested name would not cause confusion with
another property we will register it and send you written
confirmation.

Developers are responsible for the initial erection of street
nameplates on any new development and a specification can be
obtained by contacting the Project Officer, Address Management.
Dover District Council is responsible for ongoing maintenance
and any subsequent replacement.
