Roman Festival
- 15, 16, 17 & 18 June
2010
Come and spend a day experiencing Roman Life 10am - 3pm.
During the course of the day pupils will have the opportunity
to:
- Visit Dover Museum including opportunity to see a range of real
Roman artefacts
- Have a talk and artefact handling session on life in Roman
Britain
Take part in two 1 hour workshops either: -
OPTION A
- Take part in a Roman Drama workshop.
- Make a clay Roman style oil lamp.
OR
OPTION B
- Learn about Roman Magic and Medicine. Find out about
health and hygiene in the Roman home and how Roman doctors dealt
with cataract removal and much more.
- Have hair styled Roman or Celtic fashion, faces made up as
Roman or Celtic ladies or warriors complete with battle scars plus
the opportunity to make their own miniature Roman shield.
All children and accompanying adults to come dressed as Romans
or Celts.
There will be prizes for the best dressed boy and girl in each
class.
- Cost: £4.75 per pupil, all accompanying adults free.

Tudor Festival
Come and spend a day experiencing Tudor Life at the Dover Museum
Tudor Festival from 10.00 - 15.00
During the Course of the day pupils will have the opportunity
to:
- Visit Dover Museum and see the Tudor artefacts and
paintings
- Have a talk and artefact handling session on everyday life
during the Tudor period.
Take part in two 1 hour workshops either: -
OPTION A
- Take part in a Drama workshop on life during the Tudor
period.
- Make a clay head of Henry VIII
OR
OPTION B
- Learn about the Tudor music with an active hands on guided tour
of Tudor musical instruments.
- Learn about toys and games played by Tudor children and make a
card version of the popular game Merrels to take away and run their
own tournament in school.
All children and accompanying adults to come dressed as
Tudors.
There will be prizes for the best dressed boy and girl in each
class.

Victorian Festival
- Monday 8th November 2010
- Tuesday 9th November 2010
At Dover Town Hall, 10.00 - 16.00
Come and spend a day experiencing Victorian Life.
During the day pupil’s will:
- Make a Victorian style clay tile
- Have the opportunity to draw some Victorian artefacts
- Make Victorian style masks
- Learn some Victorian songs
- Take part in a drama workshop on everyday life in the Victorian
Era
- Try a Victorian Quiz based on Dover Town Hall
- Have their hair styled and their faces made up Victorian
style
- The day culminates in a Victorian sing a long
All children and accompanying adults to come dressed in
Victorian costume. There will be prizes for the best dressed boy
and girl in each class.
Classes of no more than 35 pupils
Cost: £4.75 per pupil all accompanying adults free

W.W.2 Festival
Experience life during the wartime from 10.00 – 15.00. All
children and accompanying adults to come dressed in 1940’s style.
Prizes for best dressed boy and girl in each group.
Cost £3.75 per pupil, all accompanying adults free
OPTION 1 – Tuesday 8 March 2011
Pupils learn about life during the wartime with: -
- An art workshop making a clay ration meal, not
only the food but also the plate and cutlery.
- Having their hair done 40’s style and receive shrapnel
wounds
- A talk and artefact handling session
- The chance to draw a variety of wartime artefacts
- Also the opportunity to visit Dover Museum
OPTION 2 – Wednesday 10 & Thursday
11 March 2011
Pupils learn about life during the wartime with: -
- A drama workshop on life for children during WW2.
- Having their hair done 40’s style and receive shrapnel
wounds
- A talk and artefact handling session
- The chance to draw a variety of wartime artefacts
- Also the opportunity to visit Dover Museum.
