FEEL ALIVE and GET WET
Feel Alive & Get Wet’ splashed down in Dover in
style with 4,000 people enjoying the fantastic range of free
activities in
Pencester Gardens on Saturday,
and 270 places filled on the water by people taking advantage of
the free tasters sessions in sailing, windsurfing and kayaking at
Dover Sea Sports Centre on Sunday.

District Council, Vista
Leisure, Dover Water
Sports, ACTiV
Sports Shop and jointly funded with Dover Town Council and Kent County Council's Sport. Leisure
& Olympics Service was the second of the three ‘Feel Alive’
events this summer aimed at getting people of all ages and
abilities into sport, fitness and healthy living.
The park was full of activity on the Saturday, with KMFM running the Dance
& Fitness Zone which included performances and ‘have-a-go’
sessions by CJ’s
Dance & Fitness, Vista Twisters, Jan Anton
Dancers and by instructors from
Zumba Fitness, TaiChi and
Pilates. There was also a rocking climbing tower
and bouldering wall, and in the Skate Park ‘Revolution’ ran the
show with free lessons in skate-boarding, in-line skating, and on
BMXs and scooters, followed by a 2 hour competition.
In addition there were many other clubs and organisations in the
park offering taster sessions including; horses from the Alkham Valley Community Project,
Dover Pirates
Basketball Club, Dover Rugby Club,
Dover Rowing Club,
Etchinghill
Golf Club, White
Cliffs Ramblers, Shims Way Jujitsu,
Dover
Kyokushinkia Karate Club, and more.
The event was also supported by the PCT
Health Trainers and
Age Concern’s Health Promotion, and offered a Play
Zone for the under 5 year olds and a Games Zone for everyone
offering; tennis, badminton, netball, cricket and much
more.
The event follows the success of ‘Feel Alive’ at Victoria Park
in June, and comes ahead of the final event at Fowlmead Country Park on
15 August. DDC’s Sports Development Officer Sarah Philpott said: “I
am pleased with the success of the event in Dover, and for anyone
that wants to do more activities and sports this summer simply log
