...in the Dover area

Pencester Gardens
Renovated in 2008 thanks to funding from the Big
Lottery. The design was developed in consultation with
the community in the natural play style with largely wooden
equipment and river boulders. Features include a castle
climbing frame, a zip wire, an accessible basket swing and a
roundabout.

Connaught Park
This award
winning play area was refurbished in February 2010.
The design was developed in consultation with the community
and was Highly Commended by the Local Government News Street Design
Awards 2010. The site includes challenging features suitable
for children up to the age of 14, such as a zip wire, large
climbing boulder and a tube slide. There is also a toddler's
area that contains traditional equipment, such as cradle swings and
a sandpit, and a range of inclusive features, such as a wheelchair
accessible roundabout. This exciting and creative park was
funded by DDC and the Playbuilder programme. The Playbuilder
funding was provided by the Department for Children, Schools and
Families, supported by Play England, and administered by Kent
County Council.

Elms Vale Recreation Ground
New equipment was installed at this site in 2009; it now
features flat swings, cradle swings, a high slide, a wheelchair
accessible roundabout and a multiplay unit with wide slide.
The car park adjacent to this play area has two designated disabled
parking spaces.

Kearsney Abbey
The renovated and extended play area at Kearsney Abbey was
officially opened on 14 June 2010.
This site is particularly suitable for young children.
Features include a boat multiplay unit, wide slide, swings, a
rotating net climber, a bouncy net climber and a large
sandpit. Landscaping, river boulders and informal balancing
logs provide further interest.
The design was developed in consultation with the community.
Russell Gardens
New equipment has been installed at this site recently,
including a challenging new multiplay unit, and suspension
roundabout.

...in the Deal Area

Marke Wood Recreation Ground
Big Lottery Children’s Play Programme funded renovations at this
site in 2008. The design was developed in consultation with
the community. This spacious play area includes
natural play features such as landscaping and boulders.
Play equipment includes swings, a slide, a climbing wall and a
climbing tower.

Victoria Park
A budget of over £130,000 has been secured from the
Government's Play Builder scheme (administered by Kent County
Council), Deal Town Council and Dover District Council to renovate
this site. Information gathered during public consultations
in March was used to formulate a project brief, invitations to
tender were circulated and a short list of candidate proposals has
been selected. A public consultation
event will take place at the play area on Saturday
July 17th 11am to 1.30pm to gain feedback on the
best project proposals.
...in the Sandwich area
The Butts
New equipment was installed in 2008. The play area
features cradle swings, a roundabout and a multiplay unit with
slides suitable for toddlers and a more challenging climbing frame
for older children.

Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs)

MUGAs may be used free of charge, they provide the perfect
facility for five-a-side football and basketball.
