Facilities Under Development
Dover Sea Sports Centre
The Dover Sea Sports Centre is currently being built on the
seafront in Dover Harbour. The centre will provide an exceptional
facility for local clubs and the opportunity to introduce more
people to a range of outstanding sea sport opportunities. On the
upper floor there will be catering, public areas and changing rooms
while storage facilities, boathouse and lecture rooms are housed at
beach level.
The facility cost approximately £2.5 million to build and was
funded by an extensive range of organisations, local authorities
and individuals. The facility is scheduled to open to the public in
the Spring of 2010.
Deal Indoor Tennis Centre
Proposals for a new four court indoor tennis centre alongside
Tides Leisure Pool in Deal have been given the go ahead. The new
centre will allow more people to take up tennis whilst providing a
superb facility for those seeking to achieve excellence in this
sport.
Although the scheme is subject to design, tendering, planning
and funding processes the proposals are in full swing following
approval from Dover District Council’s Cabinet. It is hoped that
the new building will open in September 2010.
Aylesham Leisure Project
Following a recent £1million grant from the Football Foundation
a £1.7m project to deliver significant new sports facilities to the
local community in Aylesham and surrounding areas is planned.
The new facility will boast additional grass pitches, a floodlit
synthetic turf pitch, multi-use games area, new changing facilities
together with improvements to existing grass pitches. These
facilities will support a range of sports that include Football,
Cricket and Rugby.
