Home Energy
Most of the energy put into your home to keep warm in winter is
lost through the building fabric so don't be cold this winter.

We wrap up in cold weather, so why not do the same to your house
by installing loft and cavity wall insulation. You could save
approximately £200 per year on your fuel bills and you will keep
warmer too! Not to mention reducing your CO2 emissions - the
greenhouse gas which is partly responsible for causing adverse
climate change.
Home Energy Survey of Dover District
To help highlight and deliver energy efficiency to residents
Dover District Council and partners have helped facilitate an
energy efficiency survey of the district. The thermal imaging
started in March 2009 and recommenced in November 2009. It is
an opportunity for you to see where your home is losing heat, where
you are losing money and giving you a choice if you want to do
something about it.
The imaging vehicle operates at night (it needs to be dark with
heating running) and takes thermographic images of the outside of
your house (it cannot see inside your home). This is a
thermal image only to show where heat is escaping from your
property. The scan is for information only and is free.

If your home is identified as one that may benefit from
increased insulation you will be contacted and shown the resultant
image. You can call an energy advisor who will
suggest appropriate insulation measures for which you may be
eligible for grants or loans.
You can also get information on what grants and discounts are
available by contacting:
- The Energy Saving Trust on their advice line 0800 512 012
- If you live in Kent, the KASH (Kent Action to Save Heat)
referral telephone line on 0800 358 6669 or KASH website
