Recommendations for Town and Parish Councillors' Allowance
Scheme
The East Kent Joint Parish Independent Remuneration Panel is
required to make recommendations for an allowance scheme for Parish
and Town Councillors. The recommendations of the Panel, which
are made every four years, are not binding on the Parish
and Town Councils and any allowance scheme must be adopted by vote
of the individual Parish or Town Council.
The Panel is required to produce a report containing
recommendations for an allowance scheme as follows:
- To recommend the amount of Parish Basic Allowance payable to
councillors
- To recommend the amount of Chairman's Parish Basic Allowance
payable to the Chairman of the Council
- To recommend the amount for travel and subsistence allowance
payable to the Chairman of the Council or to all of its members
and
- To determine whether to recommend the same levels of parish
basic allowance and parish travel and susbsistence allowance to all
the authorities in respect of which it was established
The Panel produced its first Quadrennial
Review report for the Parish and Town Councils of East Kent in
October 2009.
