Comprehensive Performance
Assessment (CPA)

Comprehensive performance assessment (CPA) is about helping councils deliver better services to local people.

It is part of a wider improvement agenda set out in the Local Government White Paper Strong Local Leadership - Quality Public Services.

This aims to remove restrictions and requirements on planning, spending and decision-making for high performing authorities, and provide targeted support and capacity building, and intervention measures where necessary, for those who perform less well.

Dover District Council's last CPA was carried out in 2004
