Corporate Plan 2012-2016
Our Vision: A high speed district of growth, enterprise and
opportunity.
The Corporate Plan (Plan) is Dover District
Council’s main strategic document, providing a framework for the
delivery of services. It is a clear statement of our vision and
strategic priorities and provides the context for other strategies
and plans that we may produce.
The Plan has been revised to ensure the
Council continues to focus on the right priorities for the district
and to take work forward for the next four years within the budget
available. The Plan recognises the Council's priorities of
delivery, growth and investment working in an environment of
ongoing financial constraints, the Big Society agenda and the need
for potential alternative service delivery.
The Council's vision is to be "A
high-speed district of growth, enterprise and
opportunity." The following strategic priorities have been
identified to achieve the vision:
- Enabling and supporting growth of the economy
and opportunity for investment and jobs
- Facilitating strong communities with a sense
of place and identity
- Serving our communities effectively
- An effective and efficient Council
The Corporate Plan is an evolving document due
to the number of external unknowns that exised when drafting, such
as the newly passed Localism Act 2011; Proposals for Open Public
Services and the Reform of Local Government Finance.

State of the District
The State of the District report was first introduced to Council
in May 2010 with the revised Interim Corporate Plan; when it was
requested that the report be produced annually.
It should be noted that the report is a
backward look over the last year and not all information is
collated and updated annually and therefore is not readily
available. As a result we have used the latest
information available at the time of drafting.
