As part of our shared and joint working objectives, Dover
District Council and Thanet District Council are working towards
delivering the same excellent Benefits service, in the same ways.
We believe it is essential that whilst we continue to ensure we
provide an efficient, effective service, we also transform it to
focus on our individual customers’ needs.

Relocation
Your suggestions and comments were requested for an
alternative location for the Saturday Union Road market and the
outcome was that the market is staying at its current location.
Draft Communications Consultation & Marketing
Policy
This gives us clear aims that will help us deal better with each
other, with all our communities, at national and international
levels and with all those who will help us to transform our
District.
Contaminated Land Inspection
Strategy
Dover District Council is required under Part IIA of the
Environmental Protection Act 1990 to produce a Contaminated Land
Inspection Strategy. The document discusses the way Dover District
Council approaches the topic of contaminated land in terms of its
statutory obligations.
Budget and Medium Term Financial
Plan
Every year, all local authorities have to set a budget for the
following year. This is an essential part of financial management
and of setting the Council Tax. We also produce a “Medium Term
Financial Plan” (MTFP) that sets out our financial plans for the
following 3 years.
Corporate Plan
Our top priority, working with partners, is to regenerate our
district in a sustainable way that gives our residents a
world-class future. Releasing our district’s potential will need to
be built on innovative service delivery so that we continue to
strive for excellence. This Plan is outward looking and sums up our
vision and ambitions and will drive our internal service plans. To
achieve our vision, we will work hard with partners to meet some
really stretching targets under the following key themes, to take
us to 2020.
Sport & Recreation Strategy
The Sport and Recreation Strategy recognizes the value of health
and social benefits, quality of life and pride in the area, and the
regeneration benefits that sport and recreational facilities and
opportunities brings to communities. Key objectives include
enhancing recreational opportunities, so that participation levels
increase.
Parks & Open Spaces
Strategy
The Parks and Open Spaces Strategy identifies the value of parks
and open spaces for health and social benefits, in relation to
walking, cycling, and informal recreation.
Improvements at Dover Priory
Station
Improvements to make the Priory Station and the surrounding area a
more attractive, safe and practical place to use. Building on the
Phase 1 works, which included the new waiting room and ticketing
area.
Polling District/Places
In accordance with (Parliamentary Elections) Regulation 2006 a
review of Polling Districts and Polling Places in the Dover
Parliamentary Constituency and the South Thanet Parliamentary
Constituency that fall within the boundaries of the District of
Dover was carried out during Autumn 2007.
Communication Survey
The survey carried out on how Dover District Council communicates
with residents has identified some interesting key messages.
North Deal - Cannon Street
Project
The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) has appointed
architects to carry out a master planning process on the proposed
options for a redevelopment of the former Gasworks site opposite
Sandown Primary school.
Best Value
All English local authorities are statutorily required to undertake
surveys on a three-yearly basis to collect data for Best Value
Performance satisfaction indicators. The first round of these
surveys ran in 2000-01, the second in 2003-04 and this report is
the results of the third round in 2006-07.
Youth Survey
The survey of 11-18 year olds
covered the key issues for young people as identified by the Dover
District 2005-2008 Youth Strategy.
Local Plan Review
The Preferred Options Report represents the formal stage in the LDF
process when there is the opportunity for people to comment on the
various options that are being considered by the District
Council.
Crime Reduction Strategy
The research organisation MORI, was commissioned to carry out a
series of focus groups in Dover and Sandwich to identify people's
views on crime and disorder. The results have been used to produce
this Crime Reduction Strategy.
Aylesham Masterplan
Research amongst Aylesham residents as part of a public
consultation process for the development of Aylesham village in
Kent.
Tenants Satisfaction Survey 2003/2004
A
survey of over 1000 tenants which has helped improve Dover District
Council's understanding of it's tenants' needs.
