Public Realm Improvements
The Public Realm Strategy was commissioned in 2006 to
provide a clear vision for Dover Town Centre to enhance the
physical regeneration projects which are planned for the
town. It identified 18 sites around Dover as priority areas
and these are:
- Dover Priory Station Forecourt
- Folkestone Road
- The northern York Street Roundabout
- The north end of the pedestrianised area of Biggin Street/War
Memorial
- The River Dour
- The pedestrianised area of Biggin Street
- Pencester Gardens
- Market Square
- St Marys Church
- Connections between the retail area and York Street
- York Street
- York Street Discovery Centre setting
- The corner of York Street and Townwall Street
- The southern York Street Roundabout
- The Western Docks
- The town centre to waterfront connection including the Townwall
Street underpass
- Townwall Street
- Townwall Street/Maison Dieu intersection

Each of these identified priority areas will have common
elements ensure that there are linkages throughout the town but
each area a unique feel to ensure that the existing characteristics
are not lost. The first area for Public Realm
Improvements are Dover Priory Station Forecourt, Station
Approach and Folkestone Road.
The full public realm strategy can be viewed below. Due to
the size of the document it has been split into two smaller
documents.
