North Deal Regeneration
Provision of Community Facilities in North Deal
The District Council has been working in close partnership with
English Partnerships and The South East England Development Agency
(SEEDA) to identify a suitable site for the provision of community
facilities in North Deal, to include improved health care, nursery
and community space.
In 2006 SEEDA appointed architects to carry out a master
planning process on the proposed options for a redevelopment of the
former Gasworks site opposite Sandown Primary school. This
was the most suitable site identified at the time for the provision
of these facilities and also a site which has the potential
for a mixed residential and community use site. Since
this time further sites have come into the frame and Dover District
Council and it's partners have agreed to commission a consultant to
carry out a further study to ensure that we have chosen the best
site for the community uses.
In April 2007 a community consultation was carried out for the
Cannon Street Site and the exhibition boards and consultation
results can be viewed below.
Over the next few months further plans will be developed and it
is hoped that a planning application will be submitted in
2009.
